Ağrı

“Drop by drop, a lake is made,” say our forebears; so too with rivers. We always picture the source of a river like the Euphrates, which has carried civilizations, somewhere grand; yet more often those waters gather drop by drop in the hollows of little-known mountains before setting out… So it is with the Murat, the eastern branch of the Euphrates. It trickles down from the mountains south of Mount Ağrı, and on the Ağrı plain it first widens and remembers it is a river.
