Have you ever wondered why a stream winds so much on its way to the sea? After all, the shortest path is a straight line… Yet the Riva Stream, leaving the forests north of Istanbul, twists, turns and dawdles as if in no hurry at all until it reaches the Black Sea; and when it comes out onto the plain, it looks around one last time before meeting the sea… Perhaps there is something in this valley it doesn’t want to leave.
