Mount Spil

In the last book of the Iliad, Homer has Achilles tell a mother’s story to old Priam, who has come to ask for the body of his son Hector. A mother who lost all her children, yet still had to reach out for a bite of bread… Her name is Niobe, and according to Homer she still broods on her sorrows among the rocks of Sipylus, turned to stone. Sipylus is the mountain we know as Spil.
