Which is the greater act of devotion: giving a city’s name to an emperor, or dedicating a hospital to a sister? Kayseri is a city that has known both… Known in antiquity as Mazaka, the city took the name Kaisareia in Roman times in honor of Emperor Augustus; and today it still carries that name, as Kayseri.
