Fethiye

Who interprets dreams? In antiquity, the answer to this question was often the name of a single city: Telmessos. The seers of this coast we now call Fethiye were famed for their skill in reading dreams and omens. Aristander, the seer whom Alexander the Great kept at his side throughout his campaigns, was also from Telmessos; it was he who interpreted the king’s dreams and the signs in the sky… That a world conqueror entrusted his future to someone from this coast says enough, truly, about the renown of Telmessos.
