Hearing its name, “anchovy village,” you look for sea and fish here. Yet Hamsiköy lies far from the coast, at the foot of the Zigana Mountains, in a forest-covered valley… Looking for fish in the name of a village so far from the sea hardly seems wise; better to turn to what Hamsiköy is truly famous for: a bowl of sütlaç, rice pudding.
