Çermik

“O eye, sprinkle no tears on the fires within my heart; / For water is no cure for fires that blaze like these,” says Fuzûlî in his famous Ode to Water. The poet begs his eyes not to shed tears on the fire in his heart, for this is no fire that water can put out… But what if the water itself carries fire? Looking at the waters that rise piping hot from the ground in Çermik, you can’t help thinking nature resolved Fuzûlî’s paradox long ago.
