How does a village stand in the same place for seven hundred years? Step into the narrow cobbled streets of Cumalıkızık and after a while you stop looking for an answer; for the village shows you not the answer, but time itself… Stone paving, wooden bay windows, three-story houses leaning shoulder to shoulder, and the sound of the stream coming down from Uludağ. The streets are so narrow that the eaves of facing houses almost touch, while the thin water channel running down the middle quietly carries the rain to the stream. It is as if the village has been living the same afternoon since the founding years of the Ottomans.
