At the end of the summer of 1925, Mustafa Kemal came to Kastamonu and appeared before the people with a hat in his hand. Many of those gathered in the streets that day perhaps did not fully grasp what was happening; but in this castle town, the door was opening on an era in which much would change, from the country’s dress to its calendar… So why Kastamonu?
