Thales of Miletus, counted among the Seven Sages of the ancient world, was once asked what the hardest thing was. His answer was short and sharp: “To know oneself.” And the easiest? “To give advice to another…” Between Miletus, where this answer was given, and Didyma, where people took to the road to learn their future, lay only a few hours’ walk.
