İskenderun & Amanos

Is there any other commander who gave his name to so many cities? On campaigns that stretched from Egypt to India, Alexander the Great founded city after city bearing his name; he didn’t even hesitate to name a city after his beloved horse, Bucephalus… İskenderun is counted among these cities. Legend has it that after defeating the Persian king Darius at Issus in 333 BC, Alexander founded a city bearing his own name on the shore of this gulf.
