What does a lover bring the one they love? Flowers, jewels, perhaps a poem… According to the story of Sedir Island, the answer is far more ambitious: a beach. Legend has it that when Mark Antony was to meet Cleopatra on this island, he had sand brought by ship so that his beloved’s feet would touch nothing but the sand of Egypt… Truly, it would be hard to think of a more laborious gift. Perhaps that is why, two thousand years later, the beach still bears Cleopatra’s name.
