In the middle of the sky, while all the stars wheel around and around, there is a single star that never moves from its place; today we call it the Pole Star. But have you ever wondered what our ancestors, who herded their flocks across the steppe and found their way by the sky, called it? Demirkazık… That is, the “iron stake” around which the whole sky turns, like a horse tethered to a tent pole… And there is a peak in the Taurus that has been deemed worthy of bearing this name.
