Ölüdeniz & Babadağ

Why would a sea be called “dead”? Because it has no waves, because it makes no sound, or because it lies motionless even when a storm breaks? The answer of Ölüdeniz, the “dead sea”, is all three… However hard the wind blows out on the open sea, this lagoon, linked to the sea by a narrow mouth, keeps its calm within. Calling such beautiful water “dead” may seem a little unfair, but it is clear how deeply those who named it were moved by its stillness.
