Samsun

“I landed at Samsun on the 19th day of May, 1335.” Nutuk opens with this plain sentence. No ornament, no exaggeration; only a date, a city and a verb… So why was one of history’s most important sentences built so simply? Perhaps because the man who landed at Samsun that day knew the real story would be written not by telling but by living.
